I certainly do not claim to know the answer. Nor do I know if she was a Christian when her heart stopped. I am just asking for opinions regarding the soul and when it leaves. What do you think?

I believe the soul is "trapped" in the body as long as the body is alive. In this case, though, her soul may've been asleep in there for 15 years ... who knows?
I can't even begin to ponder such things in my state of mind. Though, for any person dealing w/ an illness such as that, Alzheimers, Autism, etc. I would certainly hope that the soul could at least find rest ~ if not in heaven, then in past times on earth.
That is a really interesting question. I honestly think there is no way for us mere humans to comprehend the human soul in relationship to the physical body, when it arrives or leaves. "God only knows," seems an apt phrase.
When I get to heaven, after I spend a couple hundred eons in pure amazement and worship of my Lord, I have a whole slew of questions for him. This would be one. Also...
