Keeping Your Balance

Last week was crazy for me. I had too much to do and not enough time to do it. My husband is a pilot and is gone quite a bit, but last week he was gone more than normal. I feel like I never have time to cook dinner any more because we have to be somewhere every night, sometimes more than one place.
*Monday is baseball practice.
*Tuesday is taekwondo or a Scouting Pack meeting.
*Wednesday is church and maybe taekwondo before and dinner in between.
*Thursday is Tiger Scouts.
*Friday is nothing (I love Fridays!)
*Saturdays mean baseball double headers this fall, plus the occasional kids birthday party. We had two of those this past Saturday, so we missed one of the ball games.
My husband was here (only) Thursday night for the Tiger Scout meeting. He volunteered to be the Den Leader, so I am his assistant/secretary/gopher.
I also volunteered to work in the Sick Room at my older son's school every other Monday afternoon.
Now, I go to our church's Ladies Bible Class on Tuesday and guess what our new study is? "Keeping Your Balance" by Nancy Eichman. Hmm...maybe I need to pay attention here. She says, "One our of four Americans is imbalanced. Think of your three closest friends. If they're okay, you're in trouble!" The thing is, I am not sure I know three balanced people. Everyone I know seems to be doing the same things I am doing, or more (Stephanie, that would be you).
If we are so busy doing everything perfectly, are we really leaving time for anything else? Do my kids care if the house is perfect? Let me tell you, they do not. Does God care? I seriously doubt it. Does God care if I am doing my best to raise my children in love and teach them about Him? I think we all know the answer is yes.
I pray I can really "get" this lesson. I need it! I find myself snapping at my kids, telling them to hurry, hurry, hurry to the next thing. I need to be a calmer more centered Mom. I am trying, if I can just find the time!:)

The next time you get to cook dinner (or supper, whatever you choose to call it) just add in a little peas and some hommony and all will be well. Happy balancing! :)

Ok but I don't have anything on Mon, Tues or Thursday night regularly anymore. We are sitting out of everything this semester! Did you call my cell phone last night?
