Directions

My husband and I have been letting out boys "help" navigate around town lately. We ask them to tell us whether we need to go right, left or straigt at the next light, for example. Monday I was in the van with Jackson, my 4-year-old. We were coming up to an intersection where I had to turn one way or the other (no going straight), so I asked him. He said "how about both?" I heard myself telling him that he could not go right and left at the same time, he had to choose a direction. In my Ladies' Bible Class last week we talked about mission statements for our families. She asked us to think about where we are going and how we are going to get there.

This is something I need to work on. I feel that we are muddling through right now, and are doing OK. But we need a plan and a direction. There is a saying that goes something like, "You can't get there if you don't know where you are going." I know where I want to go. I also want to set my children on the right path with the knowledge of Christ's love and a yearning for the ultimate destination. Life is a journey and the Bible is our compass, God is due North, now let's go!
